Dine Out at Otto's

If we observed correctly, 38 South Central Chapter Members and "the PALINET 5" all enjoyed dinner out at Otto's Pub & Brewery on North Atherton Street on our first conference Dine-Out attempt.

As sorry as we were that not everyone who signed up joined us, the leadership team was just so happy that everyone was able to be accommodatedby the Otto's staff. This was an experiment, and it appeared to be a success! The food, the drinks and the company were well worth the night out.

Thanks to everyone for your camaraderie and conversation, and look for photos on the PaLA Flickr site (no promises how soon they will get there...this conference has SO much to offer there is little time to play!)

Secret Spotter's Second Sighting

Donna Brice of the Ephrata Public Library was spotted on today with her PaLA SCC luggage tag on her person, and won the Monday prize - a $15. gift certificate to the PaLA store.

Congratulations, Donna, and thanks to everyone for showing your spirit and support for the South Central Chapter by proudly displaying your PaLA SCC logo tags.

Who will win on Tuesday?

SCC Dine-Out: The Test Run

Five members of the South Central Chapter enjoyed dinner together at Mad Mex in the Day's Inn (Pugh St., State College.) What a GREAT menu and a FUN time!

Don't miss out on the official dine-out tonight at Otto's Pub & Brewery! More than 20 people signed up so far...have we created a monster?

See you there!

Got a Luggage Tag?

This year our Chapter decided to do something a little different - we wanted Chapter members to be able to recognize one another during the conference.

Our ''trinket chair'', Barbara, created special luggage tags and a ''secret spotter'' plan was put into action for the conference.

We ''tagged'' all SCC members and asked everyone to wear them proudly.

On Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, at secretly designated times, the secret spotter will give a $15 gift certificate for the PaLA store to the first member she spies bearing a luggage tag.

Sunday's winner was AletaAnn Sultana from Hummelstown Community Library (DCLS.)

Congratulations!

South Central Chapter Events at PaLA Conference

We're looking forward to connecting with friends at the PaLA Annual Conference!

If you were at our September 19th meeting, you received a PaLA SCC Luggage Tag; if you weren't look for one in your registration packet. At the conference, wear your tag in a visible place (your tote bag, your belt loop, your ear...) and if our PaLA SCC Secret Spotter sees you on Sunday, Monday or Tuesday, you might be eligible for a $15. gift certificate to the PaLA Store!

If you are free on Monday night for dinner, join us at Otto's Pub & Brewery for great food, homemade sodas and handcrafted ales. Seating will be informal, and it is likely we will need to split a single check, so please bring cash to cover your expenses. There will be a sign-up sheet posted at the conference.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

SCC’s Annual Meeting & Workshop will be Wednesday, September 19th.

 - Beneficial:  Chat with captains and other shipmates from all over the region—it’ll be a breath of fresh air!

2006 was a Successful Year!

The PaLA South Central Chapter (PaLA SCC) had a great year filled with lots of new and fun ideas.

We held our traditional annual meeting in June, with a program entitled Plug In but Don't Burn Out where we learned about new technologies and stress relief.

We sponsored South Central Social Scenes including:
  • Cut Loose with Karaoke
  • Picnic in Perry County
  • Jazz in the Park
  • Ice Cream Social, and
  • Biz & Brew (library tour and brewpub dinner)

And you elected new officers for 2007.

Keep an eye on our new blog for updates to PaLA South Central Chapter business and events!
